Back in mid May I began work on a project that contained animating lyrics for 4 songs, a logo animation and a Identity Statement. This was all for the Kingdom Summit 2008 hosted by the Worship Center Church here in Birmingham, AL. I’ve got a few pics from the evening ( well rehearsal actually). I was unable to stay for the event that evening due to a prior family committment. But hopefully I’ll have some show pics at some point.
Great Summer Sale opportunity today! For today only, head over to WorshipHouse Media. All PixelGirl Media motion loops are on sale half price– that’s right 50% off. So go stock up and get some cool new backgrounds for your screens. This even includes seasonal loops! So hurry on over to WorshipHouse–the sale ends at 5 pm CDT.
Finally… some new motions! I know it has been a while but now I can finally show you a little of what I have been up to this past month. This is but a mere glimpse… more to come when I get the time to post it all. But now without further adieu-
Colorful Glitter
Glitter Curtain and Transition wipe
This clip is a 2 in one deal. The first 4 seconds is a transition wipe to get you from clip A to clip B. Drop the clip in your timeline on top of the split between the two clips you want to transition between. Put the split where the lens flare fills up the screen. Then use the Add mode to take out the black in the transition clip and you have a very cool sparkly transition! Take a look at the example of how I used this effect recently:
Lens Flare Text Background
This clip makes a great background for some text. In the example below I used a wipe made from fractal noise to wipe on my text so it faded on randomly. The lens flares appearing behind it added a little something extra to otherwise boring text.
And a little something pink and purple
Purple Curly Flourish
All these backgrounds will be available at your favorite spot to pick up PixelGirl Media soon!
I just posted this on the About page but thought I’d post it here as well. I decided to write the story about how I started my business and how easy it was… so enjoy:
How PixelGirl Media Began:
PixelGirl Media began almost by accident. I had always wanted my own business but never thought I had the drive to run it myself. I began to upload animated backgrounds to stock media sites in August of 2006. It was simply an outlet for my creativity. At the time I was finishing up a job of 3 years as a Live Video Director and was preparing to quit working fulltime so I could go to grad school to study Broadcast and Motion Graphic Design.
But then my work began to sell… and I realized that creating animate backgrounds was a lot of fun. So on the same day that I received my acceptance letter for grad school, I decided not to go! I realized I could probably learn most everything I wanted to know about motion graphic design on the internet anyways.
So I began creating on a daily basis and thus a new business was born. Over time the collection grew and I even began to add stock video footage (spring of 2007). Now the “outlet for my creativity” has turned into more than a full time job! But it’s a job I love and wouldn’t give it up for the world!
PS- Looking back on the grad school thing a few years later– one of the best decisions I ever made! Motion graphic design is one of those skills that you really can teach yourself. I’m all for book-learning and advanced degrees and all that but sometimes, advanced learning doesn’t happen in a classroom!
So I know it’s been awhile since I’ve put up any new motions or even blogged! But it’s because I’ve been a little busy working on a large freelance project. I’m animating lyrics for 4 songs, animating a logo and an identity statement for a local church for a big conference they are having soon. But never fear, new motions will be up soon…hopefully the end of next week! (And they are gonna be really cool too!)
It’s almost July 4th! And it’s time for a little patriotic love so how about a sale! From now until July 4th, all the patriotic backgrounds will be on sale for $6.00 each. Just head on over to Graphics4Worship and take a look!
Just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who purchased the Brown Grunge Flourish graphic at Worship House Media. This graphic soared into the Top 10 within 48 hours of being posted on the site. It’s currently sitting at number 2. Thanks again, I really love this graphic and I’m thrilled that so many of you did as well. It seems a good many of you liked the Green Tattoo as well.

The folks at Sermonvideos.com just released a new video for Father’s Day. Take a look at it here. They also have a great new countdown for Father’s Day as well. You can find a few more videos and loops for Father’s Day as well by just searching “Father” on their site. Don’t forget about the Father’s Day title graphic as well.
